| Biography: | I have never done anything other than photography, art school -photography college - assistant - photographer, nothing else. I was fortunate enough to work as an assistant to some of the greats in the 70s and 80's, Bruce Brown, Tony Snowdon,Denis Waugh, Burt Glynn, some of which rubbed off on me. Not enough as it turned out so after trying unsucessfully to forge a career in advertising, I quickly fell back on editorial before discovering the then almost unheard of world of corporate. Since then I have been round the world three times and another dozen or so times if I were to add up all the miles. I bought my first proper computer on the day after the 9-11 attacks, thinking that in the chaos I would have plenty of time to learn how to use it. Fortunately the world economy didn't collapse and I spent the next two years, first learning Photoshop and the next perfecting digital capture whilst still shooting film. When I was ready, for a month or so I took both film and digital cameras with me on jobs until I had gained the confidence to trust the laptop rather than the Polaroid. Three months later I sold the 4x5 ; the Hasselblads have not left the safe since that day. Although the stlyle and techniques have changed radically in my 23 years as a photographer, the briefs are much the same, I'm getting the hang of it at last. |
