| Biography: | I am Janus van Helfteren , MD of Van Cols ltd which has been around for some time now , I went to college and studied photography for a year but my lecturer suggested I leave and work in a motorbike shop , and come back when I had that (bikes ) out of my system ! I started working as a photographer the following week , shooting schools and weddings , I fairly quickly got involved with commercial and industrial , and running the core schools business. This now employs some 65 people and we have a design studio which we started some years ago now to give us experiance in handling and creating digital images, this now covers print and web and generates enough photography to keep me fairly busy !. I am still shooting on average 2 or 3 days a week these days on slr type digital. The schools side of the business is slowly taking on digital , but we struggle with find kit that "does what it says on the can " .Ironically , for something which sounds a 'simple' as school photography , if there is a failing in kit or a system it will show on schools very quickly , I have learnt a huge amount through being a user of digital and computers , and a huge amount from likeminded people in the industry. I hope this will carry on . I admit to not being the most 'methodical or technical' person but scrape a living ! |
