| Biography: | Cars, planes and transportation have always held a facination for me. Whether I was sitting on my grandfathers knee as he told me tales of his RAF wartime service, or watching seventies Formula 1 racing on TV while I played with my toy John Player Special Lotus with Fittipaldi / Peterson on board, I couldn't get enough. In my teenage years, I drifted from one idea to another, at times wanting to join the RAF, be a draughtsman, sound engineer, the list goes on. A chance part time job driving hire cars led me to spend time in a car showroom and I quickly lost interest in the idea of yet more college work to become a draughtsman as I realised that I could be making good money 'right now' instead of in five years time! So off I went into my first job in a Toyota showroom. By this time, I had a trusty Nikon - after all, I was finally making money - and the photographic time bomb was ticking inside...... Fast forward 15 years, through a variey of jobs including spells selling trusty Toyotas through to exotic makes including Aston Martin, Jaguar, Ferrari and others and I arrive at a point where I find myself writing a business plan on the back of a car brochure and in 2002 find the courage to put myself in the line of fire as a professional photographer. As well as car photography and house photography, I write complete features on cars for motoring magazines and provide marketing material for race and rally drivers as well as owners of motoring related businesses. Some would say that makes me a photojournalist, but that always conjours up visions of dodging bullets and eating dog food with a swiss army knife. Not for me...I'd prefer to be a car photographer who can write. |
