| Biography: | In addition to my degree, I have extensive "university of life" qualifications, having worked in a meat plant, retail management, banking, paper manufacture, teaching - the usual... This helped me to graduate from my long-standing "part time freelance" status to full time, when the college in which I was a lecturer went down the tubes... One thing that is self evident about freelance photography is that no-one buys your services because of your name, who your father was, academic qualifications, and so on - no, it's ability, and what you've done recently. Having blagged my way into photography & journalism, I've worked successfully with demanding editorial clients that have included recently The Sunday Times "Home" section, The Guardian Weekend colour supplement, BBC Homes & Antiques, Period Living (+ other leading home-interest titles) and commercial clients. As I write, in the past ten days I've covered a large self-build house in Wales for a feature in a leading monthly; done a location shoot with models for a regular client in Surrey dealing in home furnishings; shot the Dartington Crystal factory for a feature in a leading interiors title; arranged to conduct a repeat training seminar for regional representatives of a national organisation, in Cambridge; and finalised plans to shoot a Costa del Sol villa next week, for another magazine feature. I like what I do, bringing to my work a wide experience, high levels of literacy, technical skill, and professional commitment. |
