The week was full of the usual technical questions and equipment advice.
Members were alerted to the latest mini panoramic camera, announced at CES, although some members weren't convinced of the market for 360 degree photographs. One member wanted to know where to buy camera cases similar to pelican cases, while others contributed to a member's query with their experience of Quadra portable lighting kits. The difference between a Sunbounce reflector/diffuser and it's Lastolite equivalent was also discussed.
On the technical side, a member's problems with a set of non-mounting drives was sorted, and there was an extensive discussion on the best components for a self-built PC. This then morphed into a discussion of self-built Macs, or Hackintoshes, with examples of the huge savings available.
Web site infringements made their way into the discussion, again, with some valueable advice and leads on how to identify the owner of a site, even when they're hiding behind a previously unheard of privacy option on the registration database.
Lastly, members were shown a web site of an 'environmental sculptor' who balances rocks in amazing scenery, and then photographs them before the the wind, rain or tide destroys them.
