A slightly quieter week on PI as members around the world wound down their work for Christmas. However, several important issues were raised, and mostly solved.
On the technical side there was a problem with an Epson printer, a dead iMac hard drive that even members suggestions wouldn't revive, and a link to a hack for Canon 5D2 cameras that allowed HDR video.
In the spirit of the season there was an appeal from one member for old compact film cameras for a charity he was connected with in Sierra Leone, while another member asked for recommendations for a holiday he was about to take to Cuba. One member even asked how to solve his Mother-in-Law's camera problems. We're sure the solution meant a happy Christmas!
The success story of the week came after a member noticed a competition run by Random House and the Guardian newspaper, to which the winner would be contributing a cover photo for a book, free of charge. One of the judges was a photographer who currently works for Random House, and after being contacted by a member and being made aware of the terms and conditions, immediately withdrew his support, while telling the management why he was doing so.
Lastly, a member's New Year's resolution was to upgrade his system and workflow, and he asked for members advice. This is still pouring in as the New Year approaches.
If you're reading this digest and you're not a member of PI, then why not make your New Year's resolution to join? You'll not be disappointed!
