This week on the Pro-Imaging Forum postings were more about business and personal queries rather than technical, everybody's computers must be behaving.

Cops Pay Up:   We heard of a young photo-journalist winning a case of harassment against the police. It was impressive how such a young man stayed so calm under such extreme and sustained pressure.

French Privacy Laws:     Should we have them in the UK?, how effective are they in France? Some differing opinions here as to how they are enforced and how, despite them, it can be easier and more pleasant to work as a photographer in France.  Different attitudes to enforcement it seems.

Google+ now preserves copyright data:   We investigated the stripping of metadata from images on Google+ and after contacting Google with our findings and receiving no responce, contribued the information to the Artists Bill of Rights web site as UK members of that international organisation.  This was picked up on the social networks resulting in thousands of people complaining about Google's procedures, then, without any announcement, Google are now retaining metadata. This is just the latest example of what PI is doing for it's members and photographers generally.   Now our energies need to be applied to the UK Government's attempts to weaken copyright.

MacBook Anti-Theft Devices:   After his student daughters MacBook was stolen a member enquired about security systems, suggestions ranged from locks and wire bags to software that can photograph the thief.

Two Years On-etc. :  Two years on from a career highlight, a PI member who's income comes from selling prints as wall art is finding that sales have stagnated, lots of sympathy together with "welcome to the world of the artist"
