A relatively quiet week, with only (!) 230 odd messages between members. A few of them involved the place and time of the UK members meeting at Focus on Imaging at the NEC in Birmingham. If you'd like to join us and see what a friendly helpful bunch we are, then come along to the Phase One stand at noon on Monday 25th - or at the bar next door shortly afterwards.
One member who needs to upgrade his phone asked if there was a cameraphone available that actually took decent pictures. Not so much for professional use bus as a 'aide memoire' or a method of recording good locations - a sort of visual notebook. Many members contributed their
positive experiences of using the latest Nokia and Sony Ericsson cameraphones
Another fine art landscape member wanted to expand his work into panoramas and sought advice.It turned out that another member is THE authority on the technique of successful panoramas, and he shared some of his experiences. Other members added that they'd bought his book and had
benefited greatly from reading it.
Did you know that your web site might look completely different if viewed on Internet Explorer 7 rather than Internet Explorer 6? It was news to one member,and various bits of technical cures and advice was provided by the list.
Other members were having problems with Lightroom (it doesn't handle cmyk files at all), looking for custom made focussing screens, sharpening pictures for web use and upgrading old Mac operating systems.
Lastly, one member received an email from a designer asking advice on how to shoot food photos, to be used on a new web site. Of course, the said member explained that the designer should find the budget to hire a professional photographer for a professional result. Other members added
other advice - and a couple of photographers explained how they worked with designers, with work and commissions passing both ways.
