This week on Pro Imaging.
Just to show we're not all technology geeks, one member actually admitted to buying an iPhone. No big deal, until he also admitted that it was his first ever mobile phone! Well done for resisting the tide for so many years.
Another technology resistant discussion involved whether members had all upgraded to Photoshop CS3. While a good few had, there was still a fair percentage running older versions of the app. However, with member upgrading camera hardware and wanting to use ACR, the countdown to an upgrade has started, as newer cameras aren't covered by CS2. So, assuming you need to upgrade and you're in Europe, do you buy from the USA and save any money? You'll need to join Pro Imaging to discuss that one.
On the subject of repro fees, a member was contacted for a licence request to use an image. A very high profile title, using the picture inside at full bleed. When asking the list for advice on a suitable fee, the responses typically were, "Don't bother, they're lousy payers" . However, it never got to the invoicing stage, as they fell off the phone when even a modest fee was discussed...
Bag to another gear thread and bag rage ensued as a member struggled with the conflicting demands of carrying a decent amount of kit, keeping airlines happy and not needing the services of an Osteopath. The global list offered many suggestions from the LowePro range through to Think Tank Photo bags to the more stealthy simple rucksack kitted out the neoprene and lens cases for that "Nothing of value in here" look.
And just to prove we still like film, there was an interesting discussion about how to remove scratches from old black and white negs - remember them? Contributed by Neill Watson
