PI Weekly Digest to  Feb 10th 2008

A quieter week on Pro-Imaging with just under 200 posts, however still covering a wide range of topics, a few of the items discussed were-

Making a 5x4 B/W Neg from digital file.  This seemed to be another casualty of digital only workflows, London labs no longer using film writers. A few alternatives were suggested until a US member posted that he still offered the service.


Artist's possible Copyright Infringement. When an artist uses a photograph as source material (or "inspiration" ) is there a copyright infringement?  Opinion was that this is very likely and that any further copying could also be an infringement.


Four Colour Black.  An immediate response confirmed a member's worries that a printed black would be too warm.


Clients Viewing proofs on the web.  PI members suggested a full workflow for  this presentation including sources for economical webspace


Sharpening your Raw Files.  For those who understood that sharpening was the last thing do do with your picture files we learnt that with some new techniques offered by recent programmes we should look again at this.
