Nikon Instruments and Pro-Imaging Setting Standards

Nikon’s Small World Contest leads the way

The Pro-Imaging organisation today announced that the Annual Nikon Small World Photomicrography Competition, the oldest and most respected of its kind celebrating the world’s best photomicrographers, is now further distinguished by becoming one of the first contests to fully meet the Bill of Rights standards for photography contests as set out by Pro-Imaging.org. This announcement follows an agreement between Pro-Imaging and Nikon Instruments Inc. with regard to fair and respectful terms and conditions for photography contests.

The Bill of Rights for photography contests was developed by Pro-Imaging, an international self help organisation of professional image creators founded on a belief in photographers rights. In 2007, Pro-Imaging took the decision to develop a set of guidelines with regard to rules for photography contests that would be fair and respectful to both photographers’ rights, and to the organisations promoting and sponsoring photo contests. Over time it is expected that most contests will adopt the Bill of Rights guidelines and that meeting those standards will be seen as a standard of fairness to all concerned.

Nikon Instruments’ prestigious Small World contest, demonstrating an understanding of the beauty that can occur at the intersection of science and art, also demonstrates Nikon Instruments’ understanding and respect for the photographic community that it is so closely associated with. Pro-Imaging are delighted that the Bill of Rights has been upheld by Nikon Instruments, and expect to announce further similar positive agreements with other business and governmental organisations in the near future.
