Email list discussion 19th - 25th May

This week's email traffic kicked off with a really superb Royalty Free licencing mistake by two large companies. While we may point and laugh at such basic mistakes, it makes you wonder about the professionalism of design companies that licence very important images under the Royalty Free licence model.

Another business discussion
involved the huge choice of telecoms and broadband suppliers here in the UK. Some were highly recommended, but others came with a bright red warning attached. As with most things in life, it seems that there's no such thing as a free lunch and you get what you pay for...

Business discussions included
fire risk assessments. Do you really need to employ an outside expert, or is it a simple, common sense thing that your local fire department will be happy to help with?

The USA's Orphan Works legislation
was discussed further as the muddy waters of US politics were examined. You can read more of the Pro Imaging views elsewhere on this site.

The tricky business decision of what to do about a former employee that had been trained, gone freelance, but then wanted to increase his rates was also discussed, together with the issues of how to avoid the risks associated with being fully committed to one source of skills.

And finally, will the new UK faster bank payments scheme really work and will the banks really just kiss goodbye to £30 million a year?
