The Rules of this Contest

This is published on the BBC website as a straighforward appeal for pictures. Pro-Imaging treat such appeals as competitions in which the prize is getting your image published and freely used for ever without payment.

"2. By submitting a photo and your name to the BBC, you grant the BBC a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, modify, publish, distribute, and otherwise exercise all copyright and publicity rights with respect to that photo at its sole discretion, including storing it on the BBC's servers and incorporating it in other works in any media now known or later developed. If you do not wish to grant the BBC these rights, it is suggested that you do not submit a photo to this website. See the Terms and Conditions for the full terms of our rights."

Results of Testing the Rules

Conclusions

This contest fails The Bill of Rights because -

If you submit an image to this contest, although you can continue to license your image non-exclusively, you will lose forever the right to exclusively license your image. However, the BBC have gained the right to use all submitted images for ever in any medium they choose.

This contest is not recommended.
