| Weekly Summary to Sept 28th. |
|
The week started with questions about setting up an FTP server on Mac OS X with dynamic IP...just the stuff to get you excited on a Monday morning! Discussions on the best circular polarisers...BW, Lee and Hoya featured in the discussion after a member lost his in the Scottish highlands... With the release of Photoshop 4 due shortly we learnt to our disgust that once again Adobe are charging users outside of the US and Canada at a greatly increased rate...shame on you Adobe! Are Macs vulnerable to Virusses.....some members had some useful thoughts to share. With the shock announcement from the US that the Orphan Works bill has been passed under cover of the financial debate raging there, members expressed anger and considered the next stage of the fight to reverse this very damaging legislation that will effect all creators world wide. It seems that greed knows no bounds. Flash Trax cards used by many brought us back to more technical matters as the week progressed. A new member wanted help with pricing and several members offered their own experiences and helpful guidance which revolved around a buy out fee. Our Photo Competitions campaign has now been running for just over six months with many notable successes in getting promoters to change their rules to meet the Pro Imaging standards of fairness. We debated the next phase and how it could become even more effective. The campaign addresses the building of free image libraries and rights grabbing under the cloak of a competition. Addressing these problems is sending a clear message that the rights of all creators should be respected. contributed by Richard Kenward |
