The week on PI has been even more varied than usual, with discussion topics covering the following topics from our world wide membership of professional image makers. Photography or Digital Image? Members were invited to look at a number of real photographs and some computer generated ones and try to work out which was which. A lively discussion as to where the future lay developed. Photography students and their all too often rather inept approach for assistance was another topic. Hasselblad raw conversion was discussed by a recent convert to medium format digital capture. This led to a discussion about Flexcolor and the saving of 3f files as .tif files LightRoom questions regarding colour space and the re-naming of files proved that there are many ways to skin a cat. A National Trust competition raised the blood pressure of a number if members in the UK. Wedding album proofing. A member needed advice regarding how to control the amount of changes a couple is allowed to make to his initial layout. Following the recent G2 policing incidents in the UK and the subsequent discussions here there was a discussion about how many UK members had actually contacted their Members of Parliament. New monitors, a topic that comes up from time to time was again aired and we were brought up to date on what the present choices are. The Helicon Focus software was discussed and some examples were shown. Insurance for business/equipment or self insurance was raised and experiences shared. Retouching a noisy sky shot under low light conditions was discussed with methods put forward. Web logs. A member needed to record downloads or access records of images downloaded. Flash triggers and what are the alternatives to the Pocket Wizards? Google Street View ...An update. DV Camera importing was an interesting discussion for some as was Microstock Tracking.
