Photo competitions and image appeals are notified to us by our contributors from around the world. Listed below are some photo competitions or image appeals promoted by the above organisation which have not met the standards set out in the Bill of Rights. If the terms and conditions of a contest or appeal fail to meet the standards set out in the Bill of Rights the organisation is added to the Rights Off List and a report such as this produced. We have listed in this report the terms and conditions which failed the Bill of Rights to help the organiser carry out a review. The extracted terms and conditions are shown below in italics. For advice on why failing to meet the standards set out in the Bill of Rights is a serious issue please read this article. If at some future date a competition organiser decides to join the Bill of Rights Supporters Group, thus ensuring that all their contests will comply with the Bill of Rights, Rights Off reports for that organisation will be unpublished. The purpose of the Bill of Rights Campaign is to provide education to the public about the value of rights and to encourage photography competition organisers to adopt the ethical practices set out in the Bill of Rights. ### National Petrait Gallery Closing Date - no date given RULES I grant Petplan a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, and sub-licensable right and license to reproduce, distribute, publish, transmit, modify, adapt, translate, print, display, distribute, sell, license, publicly perform, prepare derivative works based upon, and otherwise use or exploit my submissions throughout the world in any and all media; I irrevocably grant permission to Petplan to use the photograph(s) (and the images and content therein), in whole or in part, on its websites and in print and electronic or any other media now or hereafter known (including catalogs and advertising), and to edit, combine with other material and make derivative works of same, in whole or in part, without notifying me and without obligation to you; I hereby waive any right to inspect or approve the final display or other exploitation of the photograph now or in the future, whether that use is known to you or unknown, and to any right to royalties or other compensation arising from or related to the use of the photograph; I represent and warrant that if any minors appear in the photograph or photographs, I am the mother, father or duly appointed guardian of such child(ren) or have the irrevocable permission of the parents or duly appointed guardian(s) of such child(ren) to grant the rights set forth herein to Petplan on behalf of such minor(s) and will indemnify Petplan in the event of this representation proving to be false or misleading in any respect; The stated aim of this 'contest' is to collect more than 138,000 photographs, it has no other purpose. The Bill of Rights Standards for Photography Competitions
Competitions which meet all the standards set out in the Bill of Rights do not do any of the following - We have written an Organisers Guide to the Bill of Rights to help organisers draft terms and conditions that respect the rights of entrants and at the same time provide legal protection for the organiser.
