PI weekly digest to w/e 23rd August 2009
Another busy week with a large number of emails from members in some thirty countries discussing a myriad of topics - all related in some way to the lives of professional image makers.

On the technical side, advice was sought on quieter fans in Sonnett disk enclosures, and colour profiles for supplying advertising to Metro newspaper (in the UK.) The need for a dimmer on print viewing booths was questioned and answered in a prompt (and highly technical) reply.

A member's new 17" MacbookPro had unreadable small text until a fellow PI member pointed him in the direction of the right preference settings. Another member had problems with his Canon 40D locking up and displaying 'busy.' It turned out to have nothing to do with the size of the camera buffer or the writing  speed of his compact flash cards - it was the charging of the pop up flash that was disabling the camera!

Help was also given when one member asked for a studio in Northern England large enough to shoot cars in, and another member was researching the best way of archivally storing prints.

Search Engine Optimisation for members web sites was discussed at length, with link exchange between members suggested as a good and simple way to achieve results.

Lastly, the relative merits and otherwise of Photoshelter and LiveBooks were discussed, in order to help a member who was planning on travelling without his computer, but still wanted to fulfil orders generated from his website.
