As usual a very diverse range of topics were discussed this week and many members were assisted. We kicked off with a question about the best way to edit a PDF file. Photo books were discussed and advise from those who had explored this avenue were put forward to temp the wary. The Nikon D3 + 70 - 200 lens and focus problems tempted some out of the shadows. Nothing new under the sun....a member visited the St Ives Tate Gallery in the UK and came away feeling that all the landscape photography he saw was had been done to death! Others thought that perhaps he was missing something! This turned into a fascinating discussion about truth in photography with the work of a number of photographers being looked at and opinions put forward. Capture One v5 was released this week with some nice features and of course the inevitable bugs...a member has upgrade issues that seems is going to cost him! A contract for construction site progress photography ends earlier than expected, so should the client stump up for the lost visits? Members with appropriate knowledge of the industry advise on how best to deal with the situation. Missing DNG raw files was troubling one member. An old D90 Nikon has lost lots of files when transferring to Lightroom and changing to DNG at the same time. Many suggestions on a possible course of action resulted. A founding member of PI had a horrific climbing accident two years ago and gave members an update on progress back from his near death experience. It is the sharing of such stories that gives real soul to Pro Imaging. What do you recommend for a screen shield /viewer/ magnifier for use on a Canon 5D mark II when shooting video? Some creative suggestions were offered. Copyright changes may happen in the UK which will effect photographers in particular. PI is at the forefront of standing up for photographers and this topic addressed some of the issues and a possible way forward. The above is just a taste of what we discussed last week. If you are a full time professional, perhaps you should consider joining us. Perhaps the best thirty UK pounds spent for a whole year of membership.
