Another fascinating week of photography and business discussions among members . Requests for help ranged from equipment rental suppliers in Abu Dhabi, agencies offering Thai models, costume makers and dye-sub printers for event photography. The improved auto-focus on the new Canon 7D was mentioned, and a member wanted advice on the best way to produce and protect large prints to be used for display outdoors. Another member is about to build a new PC, and wanted members recommendations of the best components currently on offer. Blurb books were extensively discussed, with some members being ecstatically happy with their results, while others were not. It seems consistency may be the main problem. A US photographers experience with shooting editorial stills and video at the same time, using a RED camera, were analysed. Was this the future? Possibly - but who was going to pay for it? Finally, the UK Government has released a document outlining it's thoughts on the future of copyright. Pro-Imaging is in the process of formulating a response, and members were urged to not only read the Government's report, but were also urged to make sure that any other organisations they were members of campaigned in the same direction.
