Unpaid Photography Opportunity

If you would like to do some voluntary photographic work for the UK Government, then the United Kingdom's Environment Agency is the place for you!

They are needing free photographic services. Unfortunately they are still paying their accountants, scientists, clerical staff, PR people, and all other the skills, at least for now. We're afraid there is no opportunity for any of these specialism, sorry guys, at least not yet, but maybe they will include you in this amazing opportunity soon!

Here are full details of this exciting offer for photographers as published by the Environment Agency -

The Environment Agency is looking to create a database of amateur photographers and photography students across England and Wales.  This could be to cover the work we do, or to work on something more creative with us.  These photos would be used mostly for social media activity but could also be used for other media publications such as newsletters or press releases.

We will need people available at short notice at various locations throughout England and Wales.  After taking the photos, we will need hi-res electronic copies sent to us as quickly as possible.  Although we will have full use of the photos, you will also get to keep them and will be credited each time they are used.

What's in it for you?

  • You get to keep your photos and add them to your portfolio
  • You get credited for your work when we use the photos
  • We pay your travel costs
  • It's an opportunity to work with an organisation dealing with climate change and environmental issues on the ground
  • The opportunity to generate contacts
  • Possibility of getting a reference
  • Great work experience

Please note that due to the nature of the work we will not be able to provide guaranteed hours and the work will be unpaid, although we will reimburse your travel costs.

If you're interested then please reply with a CV and 3 examples of your work, and we will let you know in due course if we would like to work with you.  At this stage could you please send web quality photos as they are smaller files.

Opportunities like this are few and far between, unsurprisingly, so don't waste any time in ignoring it.

If you do want to know more about this a comprehensive story is on the British Journal of Photography website, it is a very disturbing story, not for the faint hearted...

Stop Press!   The story continues here -  a new and amazing development!
