An interesting and varied week of professional quality discussions starting with one member suggesting that f. stops are no longer needed! We learnt more about Lord Mandelson's vanishing Rights Grab and the Rupert Murdock connection, but there may be a happy ending in sight. Zeiss to adapt its cine lenses to HDSLR's...just $20k for a set of six primes wetted the appetite of a few here. A UK Canon repair shop was needed, several recommendations and one or two outfits to beware of all within a short time.
Bride with bloodshot eyes on her wedding day... trouble for the photographer, but how to correct the pictures? There is always something suggested here that we may have not thought of or have forgotten!
With Focus exhibition just a few days away in the UK some members are starting to feel for their plastic, and this means equipment tends to get discussed here. Focus is where traditionally many UK members of PI meet up for an annual informal get together.
We had a long discussion about various flash pack possibilities especially the Quadra product. Do you rely on one generator with several heads or split the load between a couple or more generator packs?
Software for grabbing web images gets the thumbs down, but there may be hope on the horizon.
We discussed the merits of joining various wedding photography groups.
What digital projectors to consider for a particular project? Never an easy decision. How to create web sites that look good and download fast on a mobile phone....is this the future? We also discussed various web site software such as Flux.
Information was wanted about a crisp packet found in the Bahamas, a member in the Honduras offers to look in the morning! Being an thoroughly international group has unexpected value!
Why should a particular lens on a Mamiya RZ stop it working? Various suggestions were offered and also offers of a loan lens.
The week ended with a discussion about 360 degree shots and animations.
If you are a practising professional photographer perhaps PI could offer you valuable support.
