UK Environment Agency

Pro-Imaging Statement

21 January 2010 12:35 GMT

The Environment Agency, which last week invited amateur and student photographers to work on an expenses only basis, as reported in the British Journal of Photography, responded to industry concerns yesterday by making a statement.

We contacted the Environment Agency and following discussions with them Pro-Imaging are issuing the following statement -

###

"Pro-Imaging are pleased to note that the Environment Agency will continue to pay photographers for commissions as set out in their statement.

In response to queries from Pro-Imaging about that statement the Environment Agency made the following observations –

  1. That amateurs and student photographers will be paid at an agreed rate per normal commercial best practice for their time plus expenses.

  2. That the original terms re expenses only remuneration that were sent to applicants responding to the original advert for budding photographers are withdrawn.

  3. That those who have replied and accepted work on an expenses only basis will now be paid as noted above for any work offered to them.

We welcome the Environment Agency’s prompt response to concerns raised by the photography industry and we also thank the British Journal of Photography for initiating the dialogue that led to this outcome.”
