A relatively busy week on the PI email exchange, with nearly 120 emails whizzing back and forth between members.
On the technical side there was discussion about the new iMacs with Retina screens, and whether they could be calibrated or not, and the inexplicable slow performance of Photoshop CC on a Mac. Neither members nor Adobe could sort this problem – yet!
One member, who usually photographs weddings, needed technical advice on photographing a clear, empty glass, but with an engraving, against a white background. Members pitched in with advice, and he reported a successful outcome.
Another member asked whether he could connect all his Macs via an Ethernet cable (yes, you can!)
On the non-technical side, there was a discussion about Rupert Murdoch’s purchase of National Geographic, but the longest discussion was saved for the ‘weekend off-topic’ session – at the weekend. One member confessed to still watching television on an old CRT machine. He wanted to replace it, but was wondering whether the new 4k TVs were worth it, or required?
Many members required – and it was interesting to see how many people use their TVs, not for watching television, but for watching DVDs and online content!
