From the wide variety of topics discussed over the last week on the Pro-Imaging list I’ve chosen a selection.
Tilt-Shift Options: One of our Pro-Imaging members sought the list’s opinion as to the best currently available Tilt/Shift lens for a medium format digital back. This follows others reporting on their experiences with a few lenses, also another member mentioned his tests with a medium format back and one of the latest DSLRs, finding it difficult to tell the difference!
Image Quality: A thread where members expressed some of their frustrations with some Art Directors not thinking of the usage shape and not understanding perspective were a couple of examples given.
Next Generation Epson Inks: Some of our members using large format printers have just become aware of a new generation of inks due on the market and shared what they knew.
Malicious Adware: Puzzled by a file on his Mac that refused to be deleted, a member asked the list. It was Adware but fortunately other members soon came up with a solution.
8bit vs 16bit: When you have an 8bit PS file is it worth covering to 16bit for adjustments then back to 8bit for output? Some differences in opinion here largely ending up as “it can’t hurt”. Rounding errors was suggested as playing a part in this.
Making Instagram Work: As with most Social Media platforms can the loss of control over your work be compensated by an increased profile and exposure to new clients? One PI members is making it work by daily photographing his personal project and moving his practice towards fine art.
New Scam: If a request for a quote sounds too good to be true it probably is, asking for a invoice before the brief has got to be a warning sign.
